HSE: Employers should not be complacent about employee safety
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has warned firms not to be complacent when it comes to worker safety despite a dramatic fall in the number of people killed whilst working in the UK during the past year.According to the new figures from the HSE, 151 people lost their lives at work between April 1, 2009, to March 31, 2010 - highlighting the importance of Loneworker Solutions, such as CST's Bosch Peronal Security mobile.
Commenting on the reduction in workplace fatalities, HSE chair Judith Hackitt said: "This is performance which owes much to good practice, leadership, and employee engagement."
"Being one of the best health and safety performers in the world means continuing to strive to drive these numbers down further," she added.
Earlier this year, the British Safety Council urged young workers to take responsibility for health and safety issues in the workplace.
The organisation's Julie Nerney claimed a young person is injured every 40 minutes at work.
