Watchdog called in over hospital safety fears
Concerns over patient safety in a London NHS hospital trust has led to it being referred to the independent health regulator. It comes after James Brokenshire, Conservative MP for Old Bexley and Sidcup, wrote to the Care Quality Commission (CQC) outlining a list of issues at the South London Healthcare NHS Trust.
The MP explained that he had a meeting with a number of senior clinicians from the trust raising concerns over safety issues something which could be addressed through the use of Security Systems Technology.
"In order for me to fulfil my duty of care to constituents, I decided to refer the matter to the CQC to gain assurances externally that the trust was meeting standards," Mr Brokenshire explained.
Meanwhile, a recent report by the Scottish Patients Association showed that hospital thefts in Scotland are putting patient lives at risk and costing the NHS in the country around £500,000 a year.
