Tourism 'set to boom with government support'
The UK hospitality industry could soar over the next ten years if the government offers the sector continued support.According to new research from international accountancy firm Deloitte and Oxford Economics, the London 2012 Olympic Games will lure thousands of visitors and ensure the next few years are extremely prosperous for hoteliers and restaurateurs.
As well as creating as many as 250,000 jobs in the sector, the influx of tourists could also give hotels and restaurants the capital they need to upgrade their internal communications systems and boost customer service.
By 2020, Deloitte believes that the tourism sector in the UK will be worth £188 billion - a marked increase on its current value of £115 billion.
Christopher Rodrigues, chairman of VisitBritain, which commissioned the new research, said: "This makes it clear that tourism, already Britain's fifth largest industry and third biggest earner of foreign exchange, is going to be central to the health of the British economy for years to come."
Firms which want to capitalise on the increased importance being placed on the tourism sector may want to consider installing CST's ConnectSmart Hostess or WaiterCall instant paging system
