Hot new London restaurants opening in time for the holiday season

The holiday season quickly becomes a blur of plans while you try to catch up with countless friends and family for brunch, lunch, drinks and dinner. The last thing you want to worry about is finding the perfect place to eat. To take the stress away here are the best new London restaurants where you can wind down and catch up.

Hip Chips
Single dish restaurants are on the rise and London’s newest is an unusual concept. Hip Chips serves hand-crafted crisps, fried in front of diners, and pairs them with a selection of dips. Head chef Scott Davis has personally developed the concept and has created a selection of dips which suit the crisps with flavours including Moroccan yoghurt, katsu curry and pickled onion fondue.

Opening: November 14th

Tandoor Chop House
Tandoor Chop House will be this year’s second restaurant from the team behind Hoxton Hotel, after their first restaurant for 2016, Dumpy Lynn, opened in Spring. The cuisine offered at Tandoor Chop House will be a combination of dishes found in a traditional English Chop house with the spices of Northern India.

Opening: November 18th

Soho’s newest addition, Corazón, will offer Mexican comfort food with a focus on a selection of ten signature tacos. The tortillas will be made fresh daily with an in-house tortilla machine and fillings will include Chorizo Verde, Barbacoa, Carne Asada and Duck Carnitas. After-work drinks and brunch also get a special mention with bespoke creative menus created for both.

Already located inside Pop Brixton, Kricket will be opening a second site in Soho this November. Located on 12 Denman Street, the new site will be noticeably larger but will offer much of the same dishes. Diners can expect a variety of small Indian plates and an assortment of cocktails.

The Gate Marylebone
Marylebone will be the third location for Adrian and Michael Daniel who currently run The Gate’s Islington and Hammersmith restaurants. Like the other two locations the Marylebone site will solely serve vegetarian dishes but unlike the others they will be open for breakfast.  The new breakfast menu will feature dishes such as scrambled tofu with smoky shiitake mushrooms, bagels with avocado and organic poached eggs.

Radio Alice
Radio Alice is a joint creation by Emma King, a co-founder of Gail’s Bakery, and Salvatore and Matteo Aloe, who are the brains behind Italian pizza chain, Berbere. Named after an Italian pirate radio station Radio Alice does pizza a little differently. The base is cooked first and then cut into slices before the toppings are added, this way the toppings are spread more evenly and there’s no fighting for the best slice!

Following successful pop-ups in Tower Bridge, Fitzrovia and Cannon street Ceru is opening its first permanent site. Opening in South Kensington, the restaurant will serve mainly eastern Mediterranean dishes such as a selection of kebabs and a slow roasted lamb shoulder. Husband and wife cofounders Barry and Patricia Hilton say the menu has been inspired by their travels in the region.

Bar + Block
Bar + Block is the newest restaurant concept by Whitbread and following popularity from their first site in Birmingham the concept is coming to London. Opening in Kings Cross, Bar + Block focuses on steak, with meat sourced from British breeds grazed on lowland plains in Argentina and Uruguay. You’ll also find other dishes on the menu including handmade burgers and slow-cooked pork belly.
