CST ladies set to take on 10km run all in the name of charity
The event will take place on 27th May in London’s scenic Regent's Park, and with summer just around the corner it’s the perfect time to get our running shoes on. What better way to motivate yourself to get up and go for that run, than to know that in less than a month you’ll be completing 10k to help raise money for a life-saving cause!
Race for Life raises money for research into all 200 types of Cancer, and since 1994 women of all ages and fitness levels across the UK have come together at these inspiring events. Nearly everyone has been, or knows someone that has been, affected by cancer in some way, and sadly it is still happening RIGHT NOW. But there’s hope, and that is what these races are all about. Over the past 20 years, more than 8 million women have taken part in Cancer Research UK’s Race For Life, raising over £547million to help fund the charity’s incredible work.
At the end of March, NHS England announced that it is aiming for an extra 5,000 people each year to survive cancer by 2019, and progress is being made every day towards achieving this target. A report sets out a number of measures being put in place, including investments in new radiotherapy machines, support for services to diagnose cancers earlier to improve patients’ chances of surviving and personalised care for patients. A new target for patients to be diagnosed or given the all-clear within 28 days of referral will also be in place from 2018.
This simply wouldn’t be possible without the overwhelming support and money raised from fundraising events just like Race for Life. We all share a common goal - to raise money for Cancer Research UK's groundbreaking research and to help save more lives. Every donation brings us one step closer to that ultimate goal of beating cancer once and for all.
Whether walking, jogging or running, it’s still not too late to join and it’s all for a more than worthy cause. We wish our ladies and all the other women taking part the best of luck!!
