Call Systems Technology Shortlisted for Two Prestigious Categories at the Fire & Security Matters Awards 2025

At Call Systems Technology (CST), we are dedicated to driving innovation in fire safety and inclusive communication. As leaders in our field, it’s an honour to have our efforts recognised by the Fire & Security Matters Awards, an event that celebrates excellence across our industry.
We’re proud to announce that CST has been shortlisted in two categories at this year’s Fire & Security Matters Awards: Campaign of the Year and Fire Safety Project of the Year. These nationally respected awards celebrate innovation and excellence across the fire and security sectors.
Enhancing Fire Safety for Deaf Communities - Campaign of the Year Finalist
Our shortlisted Campaign of the Year, Enhancing Fire Safety for Deaf Communities, was developed in partnership with the Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID). This important initiative aimed to raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by individuals who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus, and to highlight inclusive fire safety solutions designed to meet their needs.
The campaign had a clear and powerful aim, to promote inclusivity in fire safety by increasing visibility and adoption of accessible alert systems such as visual indicators and vibrating alarms. It sought to empower the deaf community with life-saving information while encouraging businesses, schools, and public venues to take proactive steps towards greater fire safety accessibility.

Key elements of the campaign included:

A free educational webinar, co-hosted with RNID, providing tailored fire safety advice for the deaf community

Co-created blog content and social media campaigns shared across CST and RNID platforms

A targeted email campaign and inclusive digital outreach

Community fundraising events, including a football tournament and a pub quiz night

Promotion of accessible products, such as CST's DeafCall pagers and vibrating pillow alarms
The campaign achieved meaningful impact:

Raised over £20,000 for RNID to support ongoing advocacy and community work

Reached 3,500+ recipients via email, with strong engagement

Delivered educational content to organisations and individuals on how to adopt more accessible fire safety practices
By combining public education, grassroots community engagement, and accessible product promotion, the campaign not only raised awareness but also inspired lasting change, promoting safer, more inclusive environments for people who are deaf or have a hearing loss. It sparked meaningful conversations around fire safety equity, resonated with individuals, organisations, and community groups, and showcased how inclusive design and advocacy can drive real-world improvements. In doing so, CST and RNID laid the foundation for a more accessible approach to fire safety, delivering measurable impact while continuing to support RNID’s broader mission to break down barriers for deaf people across the UK.
A Message from Our Managing Director
Reflecting on the recognition, Eloise Sheppard, Managing Director at CST, said:
“We’re incredibly proud to be shortlisted for two categories at the Fire & Security Matters Awards. Both our campaign with RNID and our work with Edinburgh Airport reflect our core commitment to accessible, effective fire safety solutions. It’s a fantastic honour for our team and our partners, and we’re excited to celebrate these achievements with the wider industry in June. Congratulations to all other finalists!”

The Fire & Security Matters Awards 2025 will take place on 5 June 2025 at the Coventry Building Society Arena (formerly the Ricoh Arena), bringing together leaders and innovators from across the fire and security sectors. The CST team will be attending on the night, and we’re looking forward to celebrating alongside our peers and fellow finalists. We’re incredibly proud to be recognised in two prestigious categories and wish the very best of luck to all the other shortlisted organisations. Here’s to an inspiring evening celebrating excellence and progress in our industry.
Edinburgh Airport Fire Safety Communication System - Fire Safety Project of the Year Finalist
In the Fire Safety Project of the Year category, our innovative work at Edinburgh Airport has been recognised for significantly enhancing emergency communication across the airport’s operations.
Managing fire safety across an airport environment presents unique challenges, from coordinating multiple buildings and high footfall areas to ensuring round-the-clock protection without disrupting operations. Working in close collaboration with the airport’s facilities and security teams, we implemented the AlarmCall Pro+ system across 38 individual buildings, enabling real-time transmission of fire and fault alerts directly to the airport’s main control centre via the WINMAG Plus Alarm Management System.
To ensure robust execution, our team carried out extensive on-site signal strength assessments, configured each system, and delivered comprehensive operational training to facilities and security staff, ensuring the system could be confidently used and maintained daily.
This centralised system has transformed incident response across Edinburgh Airport, creating a more proactive and resilient fire safety environment for one of the UK’s busiest transport hubs.

Project highlights include:

Encrypted wireless communication between fire panels and central monitoring, allowing for real-time visibility and immediate response

Average signal strength of RSSI -57, confirming strong, consistent coverage across all buildings and eliminating communication blind spots

Significantly reduced false alarms through accurate, building location-based alerting and improved data clarity

Faster emergency response times, enhanced safety for staff and passengers, and improved efficiency to maintain uninterrupted airport operations, even during testing and maintenance
