About the Role:

Overall Responsibilities

The objective of this role is to develop a career at CST as either a Field Installation Engineer or a hybrid Technical Advisor / Product Specialist. As a Junior Radio Engineer, you will have hands-on, ongoing training with a phased approach to your development so that you can take on duties in our Production Department as well as assisting the Field Engineers with installations and service calls.

Our products include radio communication devices, critical alerts/messaging; pagers, 2-way radios, call buttons.  As your technical understanding increases, so will your ability to build, configure, program, test, troubleshoot, install and repair CST products and resolve technical issues.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Working as part of a fast-paced CST technical department offering excellent customer service and support to internal and external customers
  • Taking a hands-on approach to problem solving and production requirements
  • Carrying out production build, configuration, programming and inspection of returned equipment
  • Carrying out technical tasks and customer requests, along with supporting Sales and Engineers
  • Ensuring all required equipment is available and packed safely for transit to the customer
  • Assisting our engineering team to carry out:
    • full radio site surveys of customer sites and necessary paperwork relating to site surveys
    • installation work safely and efficiently and as per site survey documents
    • commissioning of installations to correct laid-down standards
    • preventative maintenance visits at customer sites
    • walk-tests on customer sites to ensure full coverage
  • Liaising onsite with the customers’ representatives and system users
  • With Senior Engineer, attending fault calls, diagnosing and fixing as required
  • With Senior Engineer, carrying out installation, routine maintenance and repair of related communication systems

 

About you:

Experience (desirable, not required; other relevant experience can be considered):       

  • Maintenance and repair of electronic equipment
  • Understanding of installation of low voltage electrical systems, radio communication systems and IT networking
  • Printed circuit board and electronic equipment fault finding and component replacement
  • Experience of IT hardware/software configuration
  • Experience of using Spectrum Analysers, Signal Generators or other equipment to test RF devices 
  • Diploma/Degree in one of the courses below, or a related course of study:
    • Engineering Technologies   
    • Performing Engineering Operations
    • Electronic/Electrical Engineering
    • Radio and/or Wireless Communications

 

£25,000 plus ongoing training, uniform, overtime

  • Must live within a 1-hour commute of Elstree, Hertfordshire
  • UK Right to Work & UK Driving License are required for this role
